Saifee Hospital, Tanzania
The Saifee Hospital in Tanzania was inaugurated in 2020.
A state-of-the-art multi-speciality facility, Saifee Hospital realises the vision of the late His Holiness Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin by delivering high-quality healthcare to the people of East Africa. The hospital utilises advanced technology to make healthcare accessible and affordable for Tanzanians and communities throughout the region.
Spanning 140,000 square feet, the facility houses over 140 beds across eight floors above ground and two basement levels, functioning as a fully-fledged multi-speciality tertiary care centre. Its design emphasises simplicity and aims to create a healing environment. Open spaces and terraces on each floor foster a sense of openness while allowing natural light and ventilation to flood in. The thoughtfully crafted spaces enhance comfort for patients, families, and medical staff, balancing form and function to ensure a safe, high-quality environment that promotes effective healing.
Key features of the hospital include:
- Nine ultra-modern operating theatres that perform cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, orthopaedic, gynaecological and general surgical procedures.
- The largest intensive care unit in Tanzania, equipped with 34 beds, Hepa-filtered air, special isolated cubicles, and dialysis facilities.
- A ceiling-mounted Cath Lab located next to the emergency department for quicker access.
- A comprehensive radiology department featuring a 1.5 Tesla MRI, 128 Slice CT scan, digital X-ray, C-arm fluoroscopy and 4D Echo ultrasound machines.
- A pneumatic tube transport system from Switzerland that connects all the departments for easy movement of blood samples, consumables and other items.
