Nakuru
We are the Dawoodi Bohra community of Nakuru
The Dawoodi Bohra community in Nakuru, Kenya, has a meaningful and growing presence, marked by deep-rooted values, entrepreneurial spirit, and close ties to the city. The Bohras initially settled in Nakuru during the early 1960s, where they established a modest community centre that, over time, has blossomed into a significant spiritual hub.
Today, 36 Bohra families reside in and around Nakuru, mainly within the peaceful and scenic masjid complex area near the Menengai Crater in Milimani. Members of the community are distinguished business owners, leading in the region’s glass and hardware industries, as well as industrial ventures in plastic piping, tanks, and steel. They actively engage in large construction projects, particularly in real estate. Other community members run popular bakeries and restaurants, while some work as auditors, pilots, and medical professionals.
These various business establishments create numerous jobs across multiple industries and small businesses. The Bohras also demonstrate a strong commitment to the environment by regularly undertaking tree-planting activities and contributing meaningfully to social welfare by supporting those in need within the broader Nakuru community.
