We are the Dawoodi Bohra community of Nairobi
The Dawoodi Bohra community in Nairobi, Kenya, has a rich history recorded from their initial arrival on the East African coast over two centuries ago.
Today, more than 700 Dawoodi Bohra families live in Nairobi, primarily in Saifee Park, located in the lush suburbs of Karen and Langata, as well as various neighbourhoods across the city. The community is known for its entrepreneurial spirit and economic contributions, with many members involved in industries such as glass, aluminium, paper manufacturing, property development, construction, architecture, and interior design. Smaller enterprises in wholesale, retail, hardware, and home appliances also flourish within the community.
The Bohras actively engage in civic initiatives, including recent contributions to the Kenya Wildlife Service’s Nairobi National Park celebration of its 75th anniversary. Through Project Rise, the community regularly organises aid distribution and food support for vulnerable populations in Nairobi.
In Nairobi, the Dawoodi Bohra community is also renowned for its emphasis on education, philanthropy, and civic engagement. Known for their loyalty and peace-loving nature, they proudly contribute to the Kenyan social fabric, working to advance the prosperity and well-being of their homeland.
