Arusha

We are the Dawoodi Bohra community of Arusha

The Arusha Dawoodi Bohra community traces its roots back to the 1950s. Initially comprising just twelve families, the community has grown to 168 families today, spread across Arusha from Mawalla to Njiro.

Community members lead thriving enterprises in sectors such as hardware, stationery, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and hospitality, including popular restaurants and ice cream parlours. Many members also work in agriculture, industry, and professional fields like healthcare, education, engineering, and contracting. This diverse range of occupations enables the community to play a significant role in Arusha’s economy, with several Bohra-owned businesses ranking among the city’s largest hardware and pharmaceutical dealers.

In addition to their economic contributions, the community has built a reputation for integrity and is recognised as trustworthy, law-abiding, and active contributors to Arusha’s social and economic fabric.
