The Dawoodi Bohras of East Africa
The Dawoodi Bohras are a peaceful community who have lived in East Africa for nearly two centuries. They trace their heritage to the Fatimi Imams, direct descendants of the Prophet Mohammed ﵆, who established a flourishing empire in Egypt nearly a thousand years ago.
Today, most Dawoodi Bohras hail from Gujarat, India, and many families have emigrated globally in search of better opportunities.
